The Călimani range form a natural border between the Moldavia and Transylvania regions. Here is where you can see the longest volcano range in the Carpathian Mountains. The Călimani National Park hosts numerous species of plants and animals and strange lava formations, sculpted by nature over centuries. With some luck you can spot endangered species of plants, such as the arolla, a plant that has survived ever since the Ice Age. You’ll also be charmed by the patches of mushrooms and the beautiful mountain peonies.
