The National Park is a natural reservation since 2000 and spreads over 17,000 hectares area in Valcea County. This area is the most recent national park set up in Romania, being a true natural museum.  7,000 hectares of the park are dedicated to scientific research only. Here we can find some of the most amazing mountain plants, endemic plants, thus experts have named this area ‘the flower park’.
