Grīņi Reserve is located in the south-western part of Latvia in Pāvilosta region 10 km from the sea. The rezerve was founded in 1936 in order to save grīnis (the type of pine forest in wet and low fertile lands) where one can find a rare specie Erica tetralix. Its territory is 1454.9 ha.

There one can find a lot of rare species of plants what are written in Latvia Red Book – Pinguicula vulgaris, Pedicularis sceptrum-carolinum, Iris sibirica, Serratula tinctoria, Dorsera intermedia Hayne, different types of orchidea – Dactylorhiza baltic, Dactylorhiza fuchsii, Dactylorhiza maculata, Dactylorhiza incarnata, Platanthera chlorantha, Platanthera bifolia.
