The Turceni Power Station is Romania's largest electricity producer and one of the largest thermal power plants in Europe having 5 identical groups of 330 MW each thus totalling an installed capacity of 1,650 MW. t uses coal from Jilţ Coal Mine and Tehomir underground mine. The powerplant's four smokestacks are 280 meters tall.
